At Retallack School of Arms LLC, we teach heavily in Boxing, Wrestling, Knife
Fighting, and Longsword.  We feel that it is necessary that all beginner
students (Recruits) develop a strong skill set in all of these areas to be an
effective Western Martial Artist.  In our beginning Western Martial Arts classes
the following basics are introduced and practiced.

All Recruits must pass the Scholar Test to continue to the Scholar level of
training. The Scholar test  includes Theory, Technique and application tests
both oral and physical.  To include supervised combat with a Free Scholar or
Provost in each discipline (Unarmed Combat, drei Ringen , Dagger and
Longsword).

Basic Longsword Attacks:

Hewing: A cutting stroke with one of the edges of the sword.
Upper strike: A stroke delivered from above the attacker.
Under strike: A stroke delivered from below the attacker.
Thrusting: A stabbing attack made with the point of the sword.
Slicing off: Slicing attacks made with the edge of the sword by placing the
edge against the body of the opponent and then pushing or pulling the blade
along it.
